I recently got back from a girls trip and feel like we discovered a hidden gem of a place in New England! We went to Rockport, MA which is part of Cape Ann in Northeastern Massachusetts. We stayed at the cutest, newly renovated oceanfront inn and I can't wait to go back. The inn on Cape Ann that we stayed at was called The Cove at Rockport. Keep reading to hear more about the hotel and the area!
When we arrived at The Cove, there was a dedicated parking lot with a pathway to the inn's entrance. Everything is sent to you via e-mail with instructions on how to check in, there isn't a lobby. We were staying in a few different rooms and some of our rooms were in their own individual little buildings. All of the rooms were newly renovated with a super cute coastal themed and everything was clean.
The Cove is right across the street from the beach and every room had beach chairs you could bring with you when you walk over! Depending on the weather, the inn offers great places for you to hangout. They have a mid-level deck area that overlooks the beach that even has a little mini bar for a few hours in the afternoon. If you wanted a place to hang indoors, their main floor offers a huge table, multiple egg chairs, shuffle board, tic tac toe, fireplace, couches, tv, and more!
From the hotel, everything is walking distance. You can walk into town which is a street full of art shops, restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and gift shops. At the top of the strip there is a beautiful view of the ocean! The town does close down early and there isn't many bars, so if you are looking for a late night party atmosphere, this wouldn't be your place. Most of the restaurants seat their last tables at 7:30 on the weekends. If you're looking for a kid friendly, low key but still fun beach weekend trip, you have to get here!
Food (everything walking distance)
- Right next to the hotel is the cutest little to-go cafe called Two Little Birds. They offer sandwiches, smoothies, coffee, juices, salads, and more. It was great to be able to have a spot right there to grab lunch while we were on the beach.
- Friday night we ate at Feather and Wedge and wow, it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Make sure to order the bread with herb butter as an app. Their menu changes daily. We made a reservation in advance here.
- Brothers Brew Coffee Shop for coffee and breakfast to go. Their donuts are made fresh, served warm, and so so so so good.
- Saturday night we didn't have reservation but all the locals told us to go to the casual Ray Moore's Fish Shack. They didn't do reservations but you can put your name in and walk around until they call you.
- The Ice Cream Store for dessert!
